About

The Foundation for Social Transformation-enabling north east india (FST) is a secular, not-for-profit, gender-just, non-political organization set up in 2005, under the Societies Registration Act 1860. It is perhaps the first philanthropic institution conceived, led and managed by people from the region, for supporting forward-looking initiatives in the north east India.

FST seeks to inspire and unite the people of north east India towards a common vision and encourage their participation in proposing solutions that benefit the communities and region as a whole.

I am a volunteer with a Canadian NGO that provides training and support to farmers and small tea growers in Assam who are wanting to follow traditional and organic farming practices.

We have helped establish a small resource centre and demonstration garden for vegetable cultivation in Digboi. It is called Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa.

The centre is coordinated by Ms. Pompy Ghosh. You can contact her at 9854678719. We invite you to visit our project, and would be interested to know whether there may be some way we can collaborate with your group.

Although we are a voluntary organization, and do not have access to funding for new projects, we do have many excellent resource materials which we would be happy to share with you.

Please visit our website, and if possible, make arrangements to visit Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa. There will be a number of Canadian volunteers in Assam in the coming months – beginning in September. We look forward to hearing from you!

    Sincerely yours,

    Mrs. Peggy Carswell
